Lindegaard in Ferguson's bad books

Manchester United custodian Anders Lindegaard suffered the wrath of manager Sir Alex Ferguson after a late night out.

The Dane had overslept following the Red Devil's post-Champions League final party, and missed their return to Manchester from London, following their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The United squad was schedule to leave their hotel, The Landmark, at noon on Sunday, but as the bus pulled up, club staff noticed Lindegaard's absence.

However, instead of waiting for the Dane, Sir Alex Ferguson decided to leave without him, and left him at the hotel by himself, catching their scheduled return to Manchester at 1pm.

Several Red Devils tried to get in contact with Lindegaard, but reports indicate that he didn't respond until 2.30 pm, and it was too late for him to catch up with the squad.

Although the 27-year-old was a part of United's celebratory parade around Manchester on Monday, he was apparently in low spirits as a result of the upcoming punishment for his tardiness, which is anticipated to be a hefty fine from the club.

Lindegaard joined United in November for £3.5 million, but has only featured in two FA Cup ties against Southampton and Crawley, as he was out for five weeks in March after knee surgery, and this latest debacle will certainly be yet another dark cloud lingering over his career at Old Trafford so far.
